We are leader of the Energy Renovation in Housing!
In the face of the climate emergency, how is our company building a sustainable financing model?
From our first initiatives to our 2026 ambitions, discover our journey, fueled by one core belief: energy renovation is a key driver of the low-carbon transition, and we have become a committed player in making it happen.
For over 20 years, we’ve supported individuals and professionals in financing their energy renovation projects. This long-standing commitment aligns with BNP Paribas’ net-zero trajectory, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. It also reflects our purpose: to serve our clients and partners by promoting access to more responsible and sustainable consumption.
An ambitious beginning
From the very start, we focused on energy renovation as a major driver of ecological transition. Our mission was clear: make energy efficiency accessible to all through tailored guidance and financing solutions.
With the support of the PF Impulse plan, and to navigate a complex, fragmented market, we built a strong infrastructure and assembled a network of experts across countries and within our Global Business Line (GBL) with dedicated teams. Our strategy focuses on three key areas:
- Low-carbon and renewable energies: solar panels, energy storage systems (batteries), heat pumps…
- Improving energy efficiency: insulation, high-performance windows, ventilation systems, efficient heating and cooling solutions.
- Energy sobriety: electric vehicle charging stations, smart home automation systems, and high-energy-efficiency appliances.
A diversification strategy that is paying off
Despite a challenging economic context in 2024, BNP Paribas Personal Finance has established itself as a leading expert in energy renovation across Europe, capable of addressing all market segments with:
- 170,000+ projects financed
- Over €4 billion in energy transition-related outstandings
- 6,000+ installer partners
- 50+ strategic international partnerships
These results reflect our ability to adapt, innovate, and build a strong ecosystem.
A rapidly growing partner network
In 2024, BNP Paribas Personal Finance signed 17 major strategic agreements with key players in the European energy ecosystem. These partnerships strengthen our presence across several sectors:
- Energy providers: major names with strong brand recognition and millions of customers, such as Enel in Italy or Octopus in Italy, France, Spain, and Germany. They offer energy efficiency solutions, like our Domofinance partnership in France, which now serves as a reference for European expansion.
- Retail & DIY stores: this sector is undergoing ecological transformation, with existing collaborations like Castorama in Poland and Leroy Merlin in Italy.
- Marketplaces and aggregators: platforms like EFFY or HelloWatt have developed one-stop-shop solutions that provide value and trust to customers. We aim to strengthen our presence in this channel across Europe with players like Soly Energy, active in multiple countries.
Our ambition for 2026
By 2026 our goal is to increase our impact, supporting more than 200,000 energy renovation projects. To achieve this, we are activating several levers:
- Continue expanding in France and internationally, where over 50% of production is already based. In France, BNP Paribas Personal Finance holds 48% market share and is a leading player in Italy, Spain, and Belgium.
- Promote our ‘Green’ outstandings in partnership with institutions like the European Investment Bank (EIB). In 2024, the EIB participated in a securitization operation that raised €450 million to finance €627 million in subsidized loans over three years.
- Multiply strategic partnerships with recognized players in energy, DIY, manufacturing, and renovation platforms.
- Offer comprehensive support: quotes including available aid, tailored financing solutions, and post-project customer support.
BNP Paribas Personal Finance aims to play a structuring role in the energy transition of housing in Europe, combining environmental impact, social support, and energy performance.
Boosted visibility
Thanks to the launch of the 1st Cetelem Housing Observatory
Launched last year, the 1st Cetelem Housing Observatory highlights that 63% of Europeans want to reduce their energy dependence, even though 50% see renovation complexity as a major hurdle.
This new annual European Cetelem Observatory puts our expertise in the spotlight, offering high visibility across media, partners, and clients alike.
Stay tuned for the 2nd edition in September!
Powered by the One Bank momentum
To showcase its commitment, BNP Paribas organized H.E.R.E – Housing Energy Renovation Event in Paris, last May. A concept set to expand I 2025 across other retail banking countries in 2025 (Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, and Poland).
The event was a prime occasion to unveil the findings of our study on the energy transition to journalists, influencers, and clients. It revealed that 94% of French people believe energy efficiency is essential for their homes, yet 72% find the process too complex, with cost remaining a major barrier.
To tackle this, BNP Paribas Bank and BNP Paribas Personal Finance are joining forces to support customers at every step of their renovation journey, from financing to completion. The goal? Over 400,000 renovated homes across Europe by the end of 2026.
Rooted in the energy ecosystem
